Join Big Bear Bald Eagle specialist Sandy Steers on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at 7PM in Chirp’s backyard as she gives exclusive insight into the lives of international Bald Eagle superstars Jackie and Shadow. This event is free & in-person in Big Bear Lake. With over 20 years of experience supporting Big Bear’s local bald eagles, Sandy shares her eyewitness accounts of the history, resilience, and ongoing 2022 nesting season of Big Bear’s Bald Eagles. With eagle updates, captivating live-cam photos, and enlightening Q&A session, this is a talk you won’t want to miss. As one of our most popular talks, we anticipate a full audience, so be sure to register to secure seating.
Guest Speaker Sandy Steers
Sandy Steers received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, but it was not until she was a Galapagos Island Guide that her interest in birds really took flight. Sandy has been following the local Big Bear Bald Eagles for 20 years, which started when she observed the first bald eagle chick in 2012. She has been the Executive Director of the environmental education nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley which sponsors the Live Eagle Cam of Big Bear’s Bald Eagle Nest.

Due to the popularity of our events, we strongly encourage all guests to pre-register. Our events often reach capacity, so take advantage of free registration to secure a seat. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for checking in. Guests that have RSVPed should meet at least 30 minutes early on May 14th, 2022 at Chirp Nature Center (578 Bonanza Trail, Big Bear Lake) to check in for an 7PM start. Forgot to register? Tips on How to Prepare
Hosted outside in Chirp’s backyard, seating is on a first come first serve basis and is limited. We will adjust as conditions dictate, but we plan to be comfortable outdoors with heaters. Be sure to dress appropriately based on the weather and feel free to bring blankets and non-alcoholic hot drinks to keep you warm during the event.
